Immigration law for migrating as a skilled worker

There are several requirements to comply with to get a Skilled Migration Visa. Some of the requirements are:

  • The Right Age – Applicants must be under 50 years of age
  • Fluency in English – Applicants must have sufficient abilities in the English language– measured through the International English Language Testing System(IELTS).
  • Work Qualifications – Applicants must be assessed and deemed suitable for their nominated occupation.
  • Open Position for Nominated Occupation – Applicants must ensure that the nominated occupation they are applying for is included on the Skilled Occupations List. They must also ensure that there is indeed an open position in said occupation.
  • Skills AssessmentApplicants must be assessed by the relevant Australian assessing authority. They must be deemed suitable for the position or nominated occupation that they are applying for in Australia.
  • Health assessment – Applicants must go through a medical assessment to ensure that they are in good health.
  • Character assessment – Applicants must be of good character– this involves a criminal record check.
  • Applicants must meet these basic requirements before proceeding with their application for a Skilled Migration Visa.
